Because of its unique natural surroundings, King Carol I selected Sinaia resort as the Royal summer residence. Sinaia is well known as "The Pearl of Carpathian Mountains" and is situated along Prahova river valley.

Climate. The winters are not deprived of froze and the summers are cool. The snow layer predominates from November until the end of March, making Sinaia "the queen of the winter sports".

Tourist attractions in resort.

• Peles Castle built by King Carol I as a summer royal residence, on Peles Valley, in 1883.The castle is built in German Renaissence style, with rococo, baroque and mauro-hyspanic elements. From 1914, the castle became a museum
• Sinaia Monastery, built by Mihai Cantacuzino in 1695
• Bucegi Museum offers a complete image of all the flora and fauna from Bucegi Mountains
• George Enescu Museum is the building where the young man Yehudi Menuhin improved his talent of playing the violin, together with his teacher, in 1927
• Sinaia Casino was built after the model of Monte Carlo Casino, in 1921.
